Leech's framework is applied to examine how symbolic meanings and literal details coexist in poetic language. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis as the type of research. The data used in this research consists of the lyrics of the song A Million Dreams, supported by several books and journal articles as references for semantic theory. The analysis reveals that the lyrics contain denotative meanings that reflect clear and literal interpretations, such as specific imagery or events. However, the connotative meanings associated with feelings, imagination, and values are more dominant throughout the song. These connotative elements enrich the emotional depth of the lyrics. In conclusion, the denotative and connotative meanings in the lyrics of A Million Dreams are interrelated and complement each other in conveying the inspirational and hopeful message of the song
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Siti Fauziah Ahmad, Ratu Ikrima Muzqia, and Ratu Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12379Sarcasm and Indirect Speech in Elizabeth Bennet’s Dialogue in Pride and Prejudice 20052025-12-17T19:28:49+07:00Aeni Hidayati[email protected]Najla Febrianti[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study examines how Elizabeth Bennet uses indirect speech acts and sarcasm in her language in Joe Wright's 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie version. Elizabeth, who is well known for her independence, wit, and intelligence, challenges social norms and expresses her views through these linguistic tactics, especially with relation to marriage and gender roles. Pragmatic discourse analysis was used in a qualitative descriptive research technique. Using pragmatic theories and contextual clues, data from a selection of Elizabeth Bennet's dialogues were examined for instances of indirectness and sarcasm. The results show that while indirect speech acts enable Elizabeth to remain courteous and steer out of direct conflict, particularly with authority figures, sarcasm serves as a subtly effective method of resistance against social pressures. According to the study, Elizabeth's discourse demonstrates her pragmatic intelligence and capacity to navigate her social environment by combining indirect speech acts and sarcasm to convey multiple meanings and subvert social norms. This study advances our knowledge of pragmatic techniques used in literary film adaptations and their function in social commentary and character development.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Aeni Hidayati, Najla Febrianti, and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12380Teaching for Empowerment: An Autobiographical Reflection on Fostering Students’ Self-Efficacy in English for Journalism2025-12-17T19:34:29+07:00Afifah Linda Sari[email protected]Syafi’ul Anam[email protected]Ahmad Munir[email protected]
This autobiographical reflection explores my lived experience as an English Lecturer in integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into an English for Journalism course to foster students’ self-efficacy and empowerment. It tells the story of how I tried to help my students believe in their own ability to use English meaningfully while also finding purpose in global issues. Drawing from my teaching journals and classroom memories, I revisit moments when I designed SDG-based activities such as mind-mapping, writing news scripts, and recording digital broadcasts. These tasks encouraged students to express their ideas confidently, connect classroom learning with real-world challenges, and see themselves as part of a global community. Through authentic journalistic tasks grounded in local realities, students developed activity, critical thinking, and a stronger sense of global responsibility. Furthermore, Throughout the process, I recognized that promoting self-efficacy entails more than skill development; it requires the trust, empathy, and reflective practice. This autobiographical journey reveals how teaching for sustainability reshaped my understanding of empowerment: it is not something we give to students, but something we grow together through meaningful learning experiences.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Afifah Linda Sari, Syafi’ul Anam, and Ahmad Munirhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12381Implicature in “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift2025-12-17T19:40:27+07:00Ainun Jariyah[email protected]Amalia Farid[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study analyzes the implicature found in the lyrics of You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift, using H.P. Grice’s theory of conversational implicature. The research aims to identify the types of implicature used, determine which conversational maxims are flouted, and explore how these implicatures contribute to the emotional meaning of the song. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the researchers analyzed each line of the lyrics and categorized the utterances based on Grice’s four maxims: Quantity, Quality, Relevance, and Manner. The findings reveal a total of eleven implicatures, consisting of eight conversational and three conventional implicatures. The most frequently flouted maxims are Quantity and Quality, each appearing four times, followed by Relevance (3 times) and Manner (1 time). The study concludes that implicature plays a crucial role in conveying hidden emotional messages in the lyrics, allowing the songwriter to express longing, jealousy, and connection indirectly. This research supports the idea that song lyrics function as a form of discourse rich in pragmatic features and affirms the relevance of applying Gricean pragmatics in analyzing musical texts.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ainun Jariyah, Amalia Farid, and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12384An Analysis of Perlocutionary Acts in the Dialogue of Mufasa: The Lion King (2024)2025-12-17T22:47:39+07:00Alyza Salsabila Firdausy[email protected]Marwa Alifa Khanza[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study discusses perlocutionary speech acts as a type of speech effect on the behavior or psychology of the interlocutor in the dialogue of the animated film Mufasa: The Lion King (2024). Finding various types of perlocutionary speech acts and explaining how speech in the film affects the reactions of other characters is the purpose of this study. Descriptive qualitative methodology based on Austin and Searle’s speech act theory was used. To collect data, scenes showing perlocutionary effects including convincing, calming, inspiring, and rejecting were observed and recorded. The findings of this study indicate that because perlocutionary speech acts can elicit emotional responses and behaviors from other characters, they are important for character development and storyline. The findings of this study indicate that language in film has the ability to influence and shape meaning in addition to functioning as a medium of communication. It is hoped that this study will advance pragmatics research and serve as a guide for learning and analyzing language in audiovisual materials.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Alyza Salsabila Firdausy, Marwa Alifa Khanza, and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12385Students’ Perceptions and Attitudes toward English: A Descriptive Quantitative Study at SMPIT Ar Rahmah Pacitan2025-12-17T23:00:27+07:00Chusna Apriyanti[email protected]Nala Zainuna Putri[email protected]
ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe students’ perceptions and attitudes toward English at SMPIT AR Rahmah Pacitan. The research employed a quantitative descriptive design and involved all students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 as the sample using a census sampling technique. Data were collected through a 20–item Likert scale questionnaire, which consisted of four dimensions: importance and usefulness, confidence, motivation, and environmental support. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, which involved calculating mean scores for each item, each dimension, and the total score. The findings show that students’ overall perception and attitude toward English fall into the high category. The highest dimension is importance and usefulness, indicating that students view English as valuable and relevant to their future needs. Meanwhile, confidence, motivation, and environmental support also fall within the high category, although slightly lower. These results suggest that students at SMPIT AR Rahmah Pacitan have positive perceptions and attitudes toward English learning, which provides a supportive foundation for the development of more effective instructional strategies.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Chusna Apriyanti and Nala Zainuna Putrihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12386An Investigation of Cognitive Synonym Synonymy in the One Piece Live Action2025-12-17T23:05:10+07:00Hayatun Nufus[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study aimed to describe the use of cognitive synonymy in the One Piece live-action film, focusing on how words with similar meanings are employed to reflect conceptual or mental similarities between expressions. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The data consisted of dialogues in selected scenes of the One Piece live-action film that contained instances of cognitive synonymy. The sources of data were the film scripts and video content. Techniques used to collect data included observation, documentation, and note-taking of relevant dialogues. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings revealed 56 instances of cognitive synonymy, which were used to convey emotional tone, emphasize meaning, and support natural communication among characters. Each use of cognitive synonymy demonstrated how conceptual relationships between words shaped character interactions, narrative flow, and viewers’ understanding. The study also highlighted that cognitive synonymy contributes to meaning variation, aids in character development, and provides valuable insights for English learners to recognize semantic nuances in audiovisual media.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Hayatun Nufus and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12387Mapping the Schematic Structure of Argumentative Essays: A Contextualized Genre-Based Approach in EFL Classrooms2025-12-17T23:10:28+07:00Juliana Juliana[email protected]T. Drawing on systemic functional linguistics and the principes of genre-based pedagogy (GBP), this research investigates how students organize information across genre stages- Issue, Arguments (argument for and argument against) and Conclusion to fulfill the social purpose of argumentative writing. Data were collected from 12 learners’ discussion genre essay and analyzed qualitatively using Gerot and Wignel's (1995) schematic structure model. This research result revealed that while most students demonstrated awareness of basic genre stages, there was significant variation in their realization of argumentative development and coherence. Contextual factors such as linguistics proficiency, topic familiarity and classroom instruction influenced students' ability to construct well-formed arguments. this research highlights the pedagogical importance of integrating schematic structure awareness into EFL writing instruction to promote contextualized and meaningful academic literacy. These results contribute to the ongoing discussion on contextual ELT by strengthening the role of learners’ awareness on genre-based approaches in bridging linguistics forms, cognitive processes, and communicative purposes in EFL academic writing.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Juliana, T. This study aims to explore EFL students' experiences using AI-based tools to enhance their learner autonomy, motivation, and creativity in English learning. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data obtained from interviews with 36 students in the English Language Education study program at the University of Bengkulu. The collected data were analyzed thematically framework includes familiarization, coding, theme generation, reviewing, defining, and reporting. The research findings show that AI-based tools function not only as technological aids but also as learning partners, encouraging learner autonomy, self-confidence, and more creative language exploration. Students benefit from the instant feedback and adaptive features that allow them to revise, learn flexibly, and stay motivated. However, the study also identified ethical and pedagogical challenges, such as a tendency to rely on AI, a decline in originality, and the need for digital literacy and reflective mentoring. This study concludes that AI can empower students to become independent and reflective learners when used with the right ethical and pedagogical approach. It also emphasizes the importance of the role of lecturers, institutional policies, and ethical awareness to ensure that AI use remains centered on human values. Thus, empowering learner autonomy through AI is not only about digital innovation, but also about fostering humanity in the era of intelligent technology.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Lulu Atun Azizah and Pangeran Muhammad Faqih Syafaathttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12392Improving Communicative Competence through Montessori-Cambridge: A Case Study in Non-Formal Education2025-12-17T23:35:28+07:00Ananda Suci Nurohmah[email protected]Yayu Heryatun[email protected]
This study, titled Challenges and Teaching Strategies in Implementing Montessori-Cambridge to Improve Students' Communicative Competence at FL Haus Cilegon, explores the pedagogical dynamics within a non-formal educational institution in Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, the research investigates the challenges faced by educators and the strategies employed to enhance students’ communicative competence. The findings reveal that one of the primary challenges is the diversity of student learning styles, which demands adaptive and personalized teaching approaches. Through interviews, documentation, and observations, the study identifies three dominant strategies used by teachers: Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Interactive Strategies, and Indirect Strategies. Furthermore, the implementation of the Montessori-Cambridge approach at FL Haus Cilegon is not fully integrated; instead, both frameworks are applied in a complementary manner, aligned with digital trends and the evolving characteristics of learners in the modern era. The population of this research included all tenth-grade students, totaling 38 learners. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, ensuring that the chosen participants met specific criteria relevant to the study. This research employed an experimental approach, specifically utilizing a quasi-experimental design to compare the two instructional techniques. A writing test was administered as the primary instrument to measure students’ performance. The statistical analysis revealed that the t-obtained value of 2.946 exceeded the t-table value of 2.042, indicating a meaningful difference between the two groups. Additionally, the significance value for the two-tailed test was 0.00, which is lower than the predetermined significance level of 0.05. These results provided sufficient evidence to support the acceptance of the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha), while the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Therefore, the findings confirmed that the students who received instruction using the clustering technique achieved significantly better writing outcomes than those taught through traditional or conventional instruction. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that the clustering technique had a positive impact on students’ writing ability and proved to be more effective than the conventional method for the tenth-grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Tawang Rejo.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nia Kurniati, Hastuti Retno Kuspiyah, Zuraida, and Lutviatul Khasanahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12394Sustainable ELT for SDG 4: A Descriptive Study of Technology, Culture, and Faith2025-12-17T23:51:12+07:00Ninik Suryatiningsih[email protected]Diah Anita Pusparini[email protected]Fatikh Inayahtur Rahma[email protected]Barotun Mabaroh[email protected]
This descriptive qualitative study explores how English Language Teaching (ELT) can support Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) through the integration of technology, culture, and faith. Palacio 20122025-12-18T05:39:46+07:00Siti Nurhalimah[email protected]Annida Laili Hudaifah[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study aimed to analyze the pragmatic function and distribution of deixis in the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio, specifically focusing on how deictic expressions contribute to conveying character viewpoints and structuring the narrative. A qualitative descriptive method under the lens of pragmatics was applied, using content analysis to examine deictic expressions extracted from the novel's text. The results confirmed that the novel utilizes all five categories of deixis (person, temporal, spatial, discourse, and social). Person deixis emerged as the most frequent category, a dominance directly linked to the novel's multiple first-person narrative structure which relies heavily on pronouns like I, me, and my to anchor each perspective. Each deictic type fulfills a unique structural role: person deixis conveys emotional perspective, while temporal, spatial, discourse, and social deixis organize events, setting, narrative connections, and relational dynamics, respectively. The findings underscore that deixis functions as a powerful narrative strategy rather than merely a linguistic feature, effectively drawing the audience into the characters’ experiences and profoundly shaping reader reception and emotional connection. This demonstrates the critical role of linguistic features in literary characterization and narrative flow. A primary limitation of the study is its restriction to a single novel, which excludes the analysis of paralinguistic features that often accompany deixis in real-life communication. Based on these findings, it is recommended that future researchers explore deixis in other literary genres or combine its analysis with other pragmatic concepts like speech acts and implicature, while educators should integrate deictic analysis to enhance students' interpretive skills, and computational linguistics researchers may use these insights to improve context-sensitive language models.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Siti Nurhalimah, Annida Laili Hudaifah, and Tatu Siti Rohbiah https://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12396Using English Comics in Improving Students’ Ability in Spoken Language2025-12-18T05:45:46+07:00Rifqi Nur Hadi[email protected]
Spoken language defined as a form of communication produced through articulate sounds using the vocal tract, or in some cases, through manual gestures (such as sign languages), as opposed to written language. In order to improve university students' critical reading abilities, this empirical study explores how incorporating culture-based training focused on traditional desserts from Lamongan, East Java, Indonesia, can function as a culturally responsive pedagogical strategy. The study, which involved 33 students from Universitas Islam Lamongan's (UNISLA) English Education Department, used a classroom-based qualitative approach bolstered by reflective diaries, pre- and post-assessment, and classroom observation. After reading texts, narratives, and digital stories about Lamongan desserts including Wingko Babat, Es Siwalan, Es Bathil, and Jumbrek, the students were given critical reading assignments that emphasized moral principles, cultural symbolism, and interpretation. The results show that including local cultural elements greatly improved students' critical awareness of text-context linkages, interpretative depth, and engagement. Following the intervention, students were more equipped to recognize latent moral meanings, bias, and cultural representation in reading passages. According to the thematic analysis, culture-based education fostered intercultural awareness and cultural pride while also fostering higher-order thinking abilities that were in line with Bloom's taxonomy. Additionally, by encouraging empathy and respect for cultural variety both within and outside of the classroom, the method enhanced the affective component of learning. The study comes to the conclusion that EFL reading can be transformed from a tedious decoding assignment into a meaningful act of cultural inquiry and reflection through culturally grounded education based on local identity. The study aims to examine how specific lexical elements construct symbolic and emotional meanings that enhance the brand's identity. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, the data were collected from two official Marjan advertisement videos uploaded to YouTube. The verbal texts were transcribed and analyzed using Jackendoff’s conceptual semantics framework and Leech’s lexical meaning categories. The results reveal nine dominant lexical units containing conceptual, affective, reflective, and collocative meanings. Phrases such as "Putri Hijau memulai perjalanan" and "Berbuka dan hidupkan harapan" demonstrate the deliberate use of personification, emotional affirmation, and cultural collocation to evoke spiritual values and emotional connection with the audience. The repetition of the brand name “Marjan” at the end of the advertisement serves as a powerful brand anchor. These findings indicate that lexical elements play a critical role in shaping the narrative and symbolic message of the advertisement. Moreover, they contribute significantly to enhancing brand recall and emotional resonance in a digital context, especially during religious moments like Ramadan.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Naila Aulia, Roja Arribath Eka Daep, and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12408Analysis Semantic Change of the Slang Evolution 2020-2025 in Social Media2025-12-18T20:42:30+07:00Dahlia Dahlia[email protected]Siti Waroh[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study aims to analyze changes in the meaning of English slang used on social media from 2020 to 2025. Social media has become the primary space for everyday language, especially among younger users. In this context, slang functions not only as informal communication but also as a marker of identity and group belonging. Platforms such as TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram accelerate the spread of slang, often leading to shifts in meaning driven by digital interaction, viral trends, and online communities. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method by analyzing 21 slang terms that have undergone notable semantic shifts. Each term is examined based on its original meaning and its current use in digital contexts. The findings identify four types of semantic change: amelioration, pejoration, narrowing, and broadening. For instance, dope and queen now carry more positive meanings, while chopped has taken on a negative tone. Words like ghost and main character reflect narrowing, whereas tea and cooked represent metaphorical expansion. These findings suggest that changes in slang are influenced by the need for self-expression, humor, and group identity in digital environments. Thus, slang meaning shifts are both linguistic and cultural phenomena. This study contributes to semantic and sociolinguistic discussions on how language evolves in online spaces.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Dahlia, Siti Waroh, and Tatu Siti Rohbiah https://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12409Investigation of Lexical Changes and Vocabulary Meanings of Slang in Millennial and Generation Z on Social Media2025-12-18T20:47:44+07:00Muhamad Alif Sidqi[email protected]Sri Handayani[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
The use of slang has undergone significant changes in line with the development of technology and social media. This article aims to investigate the lexical changes and shifts in meaning of slang vocabulary used by Millennials and Generation Z across various social media platforms. This study employs a literature review method by examining journals, scholarly articles, and other relevant sources that discuss the phenomenon of slang in the digital context. The findings reveal that slang vocabulary has not only expanded quantitatively but also experienced semantic shifts influenced by social, cultural, and digital technological factors. The research aimed to identify the pragmatic functions of emojis and compare their interpretation across age groups. Findings indicate that emojis serve various pragmatic roles, including expressing emotions, clarifying messages, andadding humor or sarcasm. From a Speech Act perspective, emojis primarily function as expressive acts, compensating for the absence of nonverbal cues in written digital communication. A key result revealed significant generational differences: Gen Z and Alpha demonstrated greater flexibility and creativity, often assigning non-literal meanings to emojis (e.g., the cry emoji signifying excessive laughter), while Millennials tended toward more conventional use. This difference reflects distinct communication styles influenced by each generation's digital background, although individual habits were also noted as a contributing factor. The findings highlight the necessity of understanding these interpretive differences to create effective communication and avoid misunderstandings in digital environments. Despite its limitations in sample size and informal scope, this study provides a novel approach by combining pragmatic analysis with a cross-generational comparison of visual symbols. Future research should expand the scope to include a larger, more formal context.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nazeera Fajriyanti Putri, Sifa Herawati and Tatu Siti Rohbiah https://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12411Directive Speech Acts and Character Dynamics in The Addams Family (2019)2025-12-18T20:57:26+07:00Zulfa Zulfa[email protected]Nur Laily Hamadah[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This study aimed to identify, classify, and analyze the forms and pragmatic functions of directive speech acts in the animated film The Addams Family (2019. The method employed was a pragmatic analysis of the dialogue, focusing on classification and quantitative frequency counts. The findings confirmed the presence of all four directive categories (commands, requests, suggestions, and prohibitions), with Commands being the most dominant (42.86%) and Prohibitions second (28.57%). This distribution aligns with the film's thematic emphasis on assertive character traits and familial authority. The results underscore how directives act as critical instruments for narrative progression and reinforce character identity and relational power dynamics. The primary limitation is the study's exclusive focus on directive speech acts within a single animated film. Future research is recommended to broaden the scope by examining multiple film genres and utilizing mixed-methods for a nuanced understanding of directives.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Zulfa, Nur Laily Hamadah and Tatu Siti Rohbiah https://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12412Deixis Analysis in the Movie It Ends With Us: A Pragmatic Study2025-12-18T21:02:53+07:00Silva Salsadila[email protected]Nurul Fatimah Ramadhanti[email protected]Nino Farisul Afif[email protected]Tatu Siti Rohbiah[email protected]
This research aims to analyze the types of deixis and their functions in the dialogue of It Ends With Us from a pragmatic perspective. This movie was chosen because it is an adaptation of a popular novel that displays emotional communication in audiovisual form. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with the data source in the form of transcripts of the dialog of the main characters in the film. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation and discourse analysis. The result shows that there are five types of deixis used in the dialog, namely persona, place, time, discourse, and social deixis. Persona deixis is the most dominant type, showing the relationship between the speaker and the interlocutor. Meanwhile, time and place deixis show the context of the situation underlying the conversation. Discourse and social deixis serve to strengthen the narrative structure and social relationships between characters. The use of deixis in this movie plays an important role in building meaning in accordance with the context of the scene and the emotions of the characters. This research contributes to the understanding of language use in film media as a means of contextual communication. The findings can also be a reference in the study of pragmatics, especially in the analysis of deixis in audiovisual texts.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Silva Salsadila, Nurul Fatimah Ramadhanti, Nino Farisul Afif and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12413Tracing the Abbasid Dynasty’s Role in Shaping Arabic Literature and Islamic Intellectual Identity2025-12-18T21:10:09+07:00Ai Ratna[email protected]Anuri Shofah[email protected]Ayi Noer Jamilah[email protected]Rabbaniah Sabila[email protected]Agus Riyadi[email protected]
This article investigates the formative role of the Abbasid Dynasty in shaping the intellectual identity of the Islamic world during the Golden Age of Arabic literature. The research is grounded in the idea that dynastic power, when aligned with cultural patronage and institutional innovation, can catalyze literary and scholarly flourishing. The Abbasid era, particularly in Baghdad, witnessed an unprecedented synthesis of classical knowledge and original thought, facilitated by the establishment of institutions such as Bayt al-Hikmah and the translation movement. Using a historical-analytical method, this study examines the sociopolitical conditions that enabled the emergence of key literary figures, the proliferation of philosophical and scientific discourse, and the development of a cosmopolitan literary culture. The findings demonstrate that the Abbasids not only preserved Greco-Roman and Persian legacies but also fostered new epistemologies through Arabic prose, poetry, and critical thought. This article contributes to the discourse by bridging literary history with sociological analysis, offering a nuanced understanding of how dynastic authority influenced intellectual production. It addresses a gap in existing scholarship by arguing that the Abbasid Dynasty’s strategic support for knowledge creation was instrumental in defining the contours of Islamic civilization. The conclusion affirms that the Abbasid patronage system laid the foundation for a transregional intellectual legacy that continues to inform contemporary Islamic thought and literary scholarship.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ai Ratna, Anuri Shofah, Ayi Noer Jamilah, Rabbaniah Sabila and Agus Riyadihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12414Revitalizing Religious Moderation in Islamic Education: Strategies for Preventing Radicalism and Building Peace2025-12-18T21:18:45+07:00Ainun Rahma[email protected]
The phenomenon of increasing radicalism in various levels of society, including in educational environments, poses a serious challenge to building peaceful and harmonious religious life. This condition requires the strengthening of religious moderation values that can be integrated into the education system, particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The revitalization of religious moderation is seen as a strategic step in preventing the development of extremist ideologies that have the potential to threaten national unity and integrity. This study aims to analyze the concept and strategies of revitalizing religious moderation in education as an effort to prevent radicalism and build a culture of peace. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach through library research on various scientific literature, books, and government policies related to religious moderation. The results show that religious moderation rooted in the concept of wasathiyah contains values of balance, justice, and tolerance that can suppress the potential for radicalism. On the contrary, radicalism grows as a result of a shallow understanding of religion, narrow interpretation of texts, and a lack of understanding of social realities. In the context of education, strengthening values such as civility, exemplary behavior, citizenship, balance, justice, equality, and tolerance is key to shaping the character of students to be moderate and virtuous. In conclusion, the revitalization of religious moderation in education is not only an effort at deradicalization, but also a foundation for creating a just, civilized, and peace-loving society.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ainun Rahmahttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12415The Concept of Shuffah at the Masjid Nabawi: Inspiration for the Revitalization of Education Throughout the Ages2025-12-18T21:22:34+07:00Dudin Shobaruddin[email protected]Zubaidi Wahyono[email protected]
The Masjid Nabawi, beyond its primary role as a place of worship, has historically served as a dynamic center of education, civilization, and community development, particularly through the Shuffah model. The Shuffah, inhabited by Ahl al-Shuffah who dedicated themselves to religious learning, became the earliest prototype of mosque-based education, integrating spiritual, intellectual, and social dimensions. This model not only produced companions with deep knowledge and piety but also laid the foundation for the scholarly traditions that flourished in subsequent centuries. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and a literature review, this study explores the educational significance of the Shuffah and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The findings indicate that the Shuffah emphasizes holistic learning, moral character formation, and community empowerment—principles highly applicable to modern challenges such as globalization, moral decline, and educational stagnation. The research argues that revitalizing mosques as comprehensive centers of education, inspired by the Prophet's model, can significantly contribute to the development of character, intellectual resilience, and socio-economic empowerment in Muslim societies. Thus, restoring the prophetic function of mosques aligns with the broader Islamic vision of producing knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible generations capable of contributing positively to global civilization.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Dudin Shobaruddin and Zubaidi Wahyonohttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12416Application of the Hot Seat Method in SKI Learning by MAN 2 Soppeng2025-12-18T21:27:42+07:00A. The research background departs from the need for learning innovations that are able to increase active participation, conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and students' courage in expressing opinions. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data are analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results of the study show that the Hot Chair method is applied through three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In the implementation stage, students take turns sitting in the "hot seat" to answer questions from teachers and classmates, while teachers act as facilitators and discussion directors. The obstacles faced include embarrassment and lack of confidence in some students at the beginning of the application, limited learning time, and significant differences in abilities between students. The solutions carried out include providing motivation, proportional timing, and class management so that all students get the same opportunity to participate. The contribution of the Hot Chair method to SKI learning can be seen from the increase in the accuracy of answers, the ability to explain material in their own language, analytical skills, and the courage of students to express their opinions. This method also encourages active participation, boosts confidence, and creates an interactive and fun learning atmosphere. These findings indicate that the Hot Chair method is effective in improving mastery of SKI material and is suitable as an alternative to active learning strategies in madrasah.

Keywords:
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 A. The research utilized a qualitative, descriptive analysis approach based on data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation (triangulation technique) from the department’s students and administrators. The Linguistic Environment program is systematically implemented through a weekly schedule and is strategically supported by the Language Course and Arabic Language Camp. The main advantages found were its effectiveness in (a) facilitating speaking and increasing self-confidence, (b) expanding vocabulary and enhancing speaking boldness, (c) improving speaking and listening skills, and (d) consolidating the practical understanding of grammatical rules. The program successfully fosters intrinsic motivation by turning the university space into a realistic training environment for peer-led interaction. However, the study also noted several implicit disadvantages, including incomplete compliance from senior students, a lack of dedicated linguistic support materials, and challenges in comprehensive program evaluation. A major limitation is the study’s reliance on qualitative data, thus lacking a precise quantitative measure of the program’s impact on proficiency. Future research is recommended to employ mixed-methods designs to quantify learning outcomes and to focus on developing effective evaluation metrics and integrating digital tools to ensure sustained program effectiveness.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Hastang, A. Using a qualitative design with semi-structured interviews as the sole data collection method, the research explores how students perceive, experience, and develop intercultural awareness through Arabic learning. Thematic analysis revealed five dominant themes: cultural awareness in Arabic learning, empathy and respect toward cultural difference, communication confidence, openness to cultural diversity, and the role of classroom practices in supporting intercultural learning. The findings indicate that students demonstrate an emerging but positive level of intercultural sensitivity, showing curiosity, tolerance, and growing cultural understanding. However, challenges persist due to limited exposure to authentic Arabic cultural contexts and insufficient integration of intercultural content in the curriculum. The study emphasizes the importance of incorporating intercultural dimensions into Arabic pedagogy to enhance both linguistic and cultural competence. By fostering empathy, openness, and reflective understanding, Arabic language instruction can become a transformative medium for developing global-minded learners.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Imam Fakhrurrozy, M. One digital platform increasingly utilized by learners is OmeTV, a random video call application that enables users to interact with speakers from various countries in real time. This research aims to explore the utilization of OmeTV in developing Arabic speaking skills. The methodology employed was qualitative research with an exploratory approach, conducted through observation of five Grade XI students at SMAIT Al A’raf Tangerang who had used the application for over one month. The findings indicate that OmeTV contributes significantly to the improvement of speaking fluency, vocabulary expansion (mufradāt), understanding of Arabic dialects, and an increase in students’ communication self-confidence. However, the platform also presents several drawbacks, such as the potential for exposure to inappropriate content and challenging dialect variations. This study concludes that utilizing OmeTV can serve as an effective alternative learning medium, provided it is implemented with appropriate supervision and pedagogical guidance. Suggested learning implications include establishing conversation topics, compiling keyword lists, and applying the Project-Based Learning model to maximize learning outcomes.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Kaesul Ma’arif and Yuyun Rohmatul Uyunihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12420The Influence of Using the Picture and Picture Method in Enhancing Students' Speaking Ability2025-12-18T22:03:49+07:00Maharani Ariesta[email protected]Siti Shalihah[email protected]Ali Maksum[email protected]
This research aims to determine the influence of utilizing the Picture and Picture method in enhancing the speaking skills of 7th-grade students at MTsN 3 Kota Tangerang (State Islamic Junior High School 3 Tangerang City). The background is a low mastery of grammar, vocabulary, and verbal communication competence due to the dominance of memorization methods and lack of attention to motivation, attitudes, and learning experiences. The method used is library research on journals, theory books, and cutting-edge research articles. Content and descriptive analysis is used to synthesize psycholinguistic principles (information processing, memory, schema, and meaning formation) with affective factors (motivation, attitude, emotion, and self-confidence). Results show that cognitive affective integration results in holistic learning that improves language processing and retention while encouraging engagement, communication courage, and learning diligence. Effective strategies include project-based learning, simulation, self-exploration, and structured reflection, with holistic assessments that balance cognitive, affective, and psychomotor indicators. The main challenges are the need for teacher training, the development of contextual and Islamic teaching materials, and periodic curriculum reviews. The conclusion emphasizes that the integrated psycholinguistic model is relevant and has the potential to improve linguistic competence and positive attitudes towards the Arabic language. The research was driven by the increasing moral degradation and ethical challenges resulting from the uncontrolled use of technology. Islamic education, through the learning of aqidah, ibadah, akhlak, and social ethics, is expected to develop moral integrity and strengthen spiritual values among students in navigating digital challenges. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this study employed semi-structured interviews with fifty students from the Islamic Religious Education Department at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, selected purposively based on their relevance to the research topic. The findings showed that akhlak was the most influential aspect in shaping students’ moral awareness (42%), followed by aqidah (28%), ibadah (18%), and social ethics (12%). Akhlak education helps students cultivate honesty, self-control, and digital ethics, while aqidah fosters awareness of divine accountability. Furthermore, ibadah develops discipline and sincerity, and social ethics promotes fairness and social responsibility in online interactions. Overall, Islamic Religious Education plays an essential role in integrating moral and spiritual values into students’ digital behavior, fostering ethical, responsible, and faith-based digital citizens in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Siti Rahma Aliyatussyarifah, Siti Khoirunisa, Siti Maryam and Sufina Sarihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12425SWOT Analysis of Arabic Language Learning at El Darosah Azhar Course Institution, Middle East Preparation and Tutoring Center2025-12-18T22:33:59+07:00Taufik Hidayat[email protected]Mufrodi Mufrodi[email protected]
This study aims to analyze the strategic factors that influence the success of Arabic language course institutions through a SWOT analysis approach (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). The background for this study stems from the awareness that early childhood education plays a fundamental role in shaping character, morals, and national identity from the initial stages of growth. Instilling a sense of national pride must be designed through learning experiences that are engaging, relevant to daily life, and meaningful to the child. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, involving two main informants: the school principal and a teacher from Kindergarten A who is directly involved in managing the Nationality Center. Data collection was performed through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation review, such as the Daily Lesson Implementation Plan (RPPH) and records of children's activities. Data analysis followed the stages of the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the management system of the Nationality Center at TK Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Samarinda comprises: planning learning programs oriented toward national values, implementing play activities that foster a spirit of nationalism, and continuous evaluation to strengthen the child's character of love for the homeland. This paper argues that Islamic higher education can serve as a transformative driver for global governance and sustainable business ethics by integrating Islamic epistemology, Maqasid al-Shariah (the higher objectives of Islamic law), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using a conceptual and qualitative literature approach, this study explores how Islamic universities can cultivate globally competent leaders who embody ethical accountability, justice, and sustainability. Through analyses of selected literature and models from Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia, the paper highlights curriculum innovation, ethical entrepreneurship, and cross-border collaboration as mechanisms to embed sustainability within Islamic education. Findings suggest that reframing Islamic higher education as a catalyst for global governance bridges the ethical gap in modern capitalism and fosters a value-driven model for sustainable development. The paper concludes with strategic recommendations for integrating SDGs, global partnerships, and Islamic ethics into higher education governance.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Zaenal Muttaqin and Deasy Silvya Sarihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12455Self-Reflection of 21st-Century Teachers: Cultivating Intrinsic Motivation and Professional Competence through a Deep Learning Approach2025-12-20T22:26:18+07:00Erni Ratna Dewi[email protected]A. Aminullah Alam[email protected]Sujarwo Sujarwo[email protected]
Educators in the contemporary era must possess not just pedagogical expertise but also reflective awareness and an intrinsic motivation for continuous learning and creativity to adapt to the changing educational paradigm. This study aims to investigate how self-reflection among twenty-first-century educators boosts professional competence and fosters intrinsic motivation through immersive learning. This study employed a qualitative technique utilizing a phenomenological design, involving 13 educators enrolled in the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program at Universitas Islam Makassar (UIM) in 2025. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and thematically analyzed to investigate teachers' reflective experiences in immersive learning contexts. The findings demonstrate that self-reflection is essential in enhancing teachers' professional understanding of the significance and objectives of education. The reflection process helps educators to identify their strengths and limitations, cultivate learner-centered pedagogical practices, and assimilate the spiritual, social, and ethical principles of the profession. Intrinsic motivation arises when educators acknowledge their individual impact on student growth and the humanitarian principles intrinsic to the teaching profession. Moreover, immersive learning enables educators to cultivate critical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills, which are essential attributes of 21st-century professional competency. This research concludes that self-reflection is essential for cultivating intrinsic motivation and sustainably enhancing teachers' professional competence. Deep learning serves as a way between reflective awareness and transformative professional practice, fostering adaptive, reflective, and inspiring educators in contemporary education.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Erni Ratna Dewi, A. The Poster Comment model, combined with Longko' values, can foster student participation, reflection, and collaboration, while also meaningfully instilling the values of responsibility, respect, and togetherness..This study aims to construct and describe the implementation of the Longko-based Poster Comment learning model as a Torajan cultural value system and as an effective strategy for character education in higher education. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, this study involved 11 students from four study programs at IAKN Toraja who had participated in the Poster Comment activity. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically using a communicative action framework to uncover the reflective, moral, and cultural dimensions of learning. The results showed that the Poster Comment model significantly improved students' reflective awareness, moral reasoning, empathy, and collaboration through dialogic interactions with peers and visual expressions rooted in Longko' values. Three dominant themes emerged: reflective self-awareness, moral communication, and cultural internalization. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of indigenous moral philosophy into the reflective-visual learning model, which bridges cultural wisdom and modern pedagogy. Practically, this model encourages culturally responsive moral learning that strengthens students' social responsibility and ethical behavior. This study contributes to character education theory by demonstrating how social constructivism and cultural ethics synergize to form a transformative and context-sensitive pedagogical framework.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Erwin Bunga Sapan, Abdullah Pandang, Andi Makkasau and Syamsuddinhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12457Implementation of 17 Agustus Song through AVA-Based Arrangement in Music Learning for Children at Sukabumi English First2025-12-20T22:40:40+07:00Melsya Firtikasari[email protected]Harry Haryono[email protected]Yudhistira Rejki Firdaus[email protected]Teguh Gumelar[email protected]
This study aims to implement the Indonesian national song “17 Agustus” through an interactive arrangement developed using AVA (Angklung Virtual Assistant) as a digital music learning medium at the English First (EF) course center for children aged 6–10 years. One of the most important aspects of this curriculum is the opportunity for students to choose elective subjects based on their interests, talents, and future career plans. However, this process is not easy, especially at the high school level. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through interviews with three students of class X and one Guidance and Counseling teacher at SMAN 1 Petir. The results showed that students experienced confusion in choosing subjects due to lack of information, lack of communication with parents, and low motivation to learn. To address this, BK teachers provide structured career guidance services, including classical tutoring, individual and group counseling, as well as the use of instruments such as RIASEC interest questionnaires. This service helps students understand themselves and their career plans. Collaboration between BK teachers, homeroom teachers, and subject teachers supports the implementation of the program. Principals function not only as administrators but also as transformational leaders who drive synergistic efforts to achieve institutional goals. This study analyzes (1) the role of principal competencies in enhancing educational quality at SMAN 1 Pacet Mojokerto, and (2) the implications of these competencies. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, deputy principal for curriculum, and educators. Data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, with verification conducted via source and technical triangulation. The findings reveal that the principal plays a strategic role in fostering a conducive learning environment, improving staff performance, and building a culture of excellence. (1) The principal's role in quality enhancement is manifested through three interconnected competencies: Personality, Managerial, and Entrepreneurial. These roles directly impact the fulfillment of the National Education Standards concerning content, process, and graduate competence. (2) The implications are significant, leading to systematic curriculum implementation, directed innovation in program management, and maximized student potential.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Andi Herlinahttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12461Islamic Education and Global Citizenship in Character Development2025-12-21T09:17:40+07:00Gusnarib A. Wahab[email protected]
Education holds a strategic role in developing student character, aiming for individuals who are morally upright, knowledgeable, and socially conscious. In the context of globalization, marked by technological advancement and open information, Islamic education must synergize with Global Citizenship (GC) values to cultivate a generation that is not only intellectually astute but also concerned with humanitarian issues and moral responsibility as world citizens. This study analyzes the role of integrating Islamic education and GC in student character formation. Using a qualitative library research approach, relevant literature—including books, academic journals, and policy documents—was analyzed. The findings indicate that core Islamic values, such such as faith, honesty, justice, and compassion, align strongly with GC principles like tolerance, social justice, responsibility, and peace. This synergy can be actualized through integrated curricula, values-based learning, and teacher role-modeling in daily educational practice. Character formation rooted in Islamic values yet open to global diversity will produce a generation that is virtuous (akhlakul karimah), critical, adaptive, and capable of contributing positively both locally and internationally. Therefore, Islamic education and global citizenship are not conflicting but complementary forces in shaping holistic and competitive student character in the global era.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Gusnarib A. This study aims to reconstruct the student development ecosystem through a tarbiyah-based approach rooted in Islamic Education Management (IEM). Employing a reflective hermeneutic phenomenological method, data were collected through in-depth literature review, public interview analysis on school violence cases (including SMA Cimarga, SMAN 72 Jakarta, and similar incidents), and paradigmatic reflection on Indonesia’s student development systems. The findings indicate: (1) disciplinary culture remains dominated by coercive methods rather than character shaping; (2) teacher–student relationships suffer from an empathy gap due to the lack of murabbi cadre formation; (3) an integrative student management system combining education, habituation, and spiritual mentoring has yet to be established. This study proposes a conceptual model called the Tarbiyah Ecosystem Framework (TEF), encompassing the dimensions of qalbiyah (spiritual heart), aqliyah (intellect), akhlaqiyah (morality), and nizhamiyah (systemic-managerial). The research underscores the need for a policy shift in student governance—from discipline-centered to tarbiyah-centered orientation.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Fatkhurrohman, Ani Anggrayani, Atiqoh and Ali Muhtaromhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12463Leadership and Innovation in Islamic Higher Education: A Systematic Literature Review for Sustainable Development2025-12-21T09:32:31+07:00Shalima S. Sappayani[email protected]
Islamic higher education stands to be transformed by the leadership and innovation that is based on the Islamic ethical principles to bring about long term sustainability of the institution. The proposed study is a synthesizing research on the topic of leadership practices, innovation strategies, and sustainability initiatives in Islamic higher education published in 2021-2025 in the form of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). With the guidance of PRISMA 2020, 19 peer-reviewed articles were chosen in the form of ScienceDirect, ERIC, Sage journals, SpringerLink, and Wiley online library. The thematic synthesis was employed in analysing data. There are three significant and related themes in the findings. To begin with, Islamic higher education leadership has value-based, managerial, and capacity building orientations. The leaders do not only maintain institutional mission and Islamic identity but also catalyze digital transformation, governance reform and human capital development. Second, pedagogical and digital practices, such as course design with LMS support, problem-based learning, and technology-enhanced instruction, are the most prominent in the sphere of innovation and which have been shown to both increase student engagement and student learning outcomes. Other innovations are in the field of curriculum reform, branding, and financial management, which are some of the institutional attempts to adapt to changing demands. Third, institutional resilience, culture of quality, human development, and general societal contributions are linked to sustainability, which is a less discussed concept. The concept of sustainability is commonly presented as the desired consequence of leadership-based reforms and innovation-based modernization yet operational indicators have not been developed yet. In general, the review indicates that the intervention of alignment between leadership and innovation is the core of the quality improvement and sustainable development of the Islamic higher education. Digital adoption and reforms can be facilitated by leadership commitment and long-term institutional strength is achieved through innovations introduced at both instructional and organisational levels.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Shalima S. This study was undertaken in 2025 with a cohort of students majoring in Islamic Education at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, recruited using selective sampling. This study was incorporated into the Dick and Carey Research and Development framework. The validation results from experts, including media, learning material, and language specialists, indicated that the Indonesian language game-based teaching learning material is valid for use, with average validation scores of 91.5% from media experts, 92.5% from learning material experts, and 92% from language experts. The one-to-one evaluation phase yielded an average score of 4.6, the small group average was 4.8, and the field test average also reached 4.8, all classified as very good. The effectiveness test of the instructional learning material, involving 30 students, utilized the N-Gain Score Test, yielding an N-Gain Score of 0.7515 for the experimental class and 0.6450 for the control class. An Independent Sample t-Test revealed a significant difference in the enhancement of understanding the concept of heredity between students exposed to conventional teaching learning material and those utilizing interactive teaching learning material The findings suggest that readers utilize “HIWAR” game-based inheritance teaching learning material as an alternative to enhance inheritance calculating abilities and comprehension of inheritance concepts in Islamic higher education courses on inheritance. The Sasi tradition, rooted in customary law and community-based resource management, promotes values such as cooperation, gratitude, environmental responsibility, and social harmony. As mosques increasingly serve as centers for cultural and moral learning, these practices provide a meaningful model for students’ moral and social development. Using a combined methodology of systematic literature review and reflective analysis of field experiences, this study explores how mosque-based Sasi contributes to character education that is both contextually relevant and rooted in local culture. Results show that merging customary values with religious teachings strengthens students’ ethical awareness and cultural identity, while also fostering religious commitment and social responsibility. However, several challenges persist: misalignment between mosque programs and formal school curricula, limited documentation of local traditions, insufficient teacher preparation, and the effects of modernization, which reduce youth engagement with cultural practices. Collaboration among mosques, schools, families, and communities is critical for sustaining these efforts, but coordination barriers and resource limitations often hinder effectiveness. Despite these obstacles, the study concludes that mosque-based character education grounded in local wisdom offers a resonant model for holistic moral development. Strengthening curriculum integration, enhancing teacher training, formalizing collaboration, and using adaptive strategies such as digital media can improve the scalability and continuity of this approach. Ultimately, mosque-based Sasi offers a valuable pathway for nurturing ethically grounded, culturally aware, and socially responsible future generations in Indonesia.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Asephttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12467A Conceptual Model of Sufi-Based Sustainable Islamic Education within the Framework of the Sustainable Development Goals2025-12-21T10:46:10+07:00Jemmy Harto[email protected]Mufti Ali[email protected]
This study explores the relevance of Sufism to the framework of sustainable development, particularly within the context of Islamic education in Indonesia. It departs from the growing recognition that spirituality is often neglected in modern development paradigms and proposes an integrative Sufi-based approach as both an epistemological and practical foundation for sustainable education. Using a qualitative descriptive method through literature analysis and thematic interpretation of 22 open-access scholarly sources, this research identifies four essential Sufi values tazkiyah al-nafs (self-purification), tawāzun (balance), ihsān (excellence in action), and rahmah (universal compassion). These values demonstrate direct alignment with SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 13 (climate action), and SDG 16 (peace, justice, and strong institutions). Findings reveal that integrating Sufi values into Islamic education strengthens character formation, enhances ecological awareness, and fosters a culture of peace. Theoretically, this study extends the framework of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into a Spiritual Sustainability Education (SSE) paradigm, while practically offering a transformative model of Islamic education that unites faith, knowledge, and social responsibility as the moral foundation of sustainable development.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Jemmy Harto and Mufti Alihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12468The Values of Customary Education as Moral and Spiritual Principles of the Baduy Community and Their Relevance in the 4.0 Era2025-12-21T10:52:30+07:00Siti Mayasari[email protected]Novi Rofihatun Nissa[email protected]Fitriyatuzzahriyah Fitriyatuzzahriyah[email protected]Kamia Ade Olivia[email protected]
This study aims to describe and analyze traditional education as the source of ethical and spiritual values for the Baduy community and its relevance in facing the challenges of the 4.0 era. The research was conducted in Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, home to the Outer Baduy community. This location was selected due to the Baduy community's renowned steadfastness in maintaining their customs, ethical codes, and ancestral heritage amidst rapid modernization. The unique character of the Baduy people—marked by resilience, honesty, humility, discipline, and profound spiritual and social responsibility—is cultivated through their traditional education, which operates without formal schooling. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method with an Ethnographic approach, data was gathered through in-depth interviews with customary leaders and Outer Baduy residents, supplemented by relevant literature studies. The findings indicate that Baduy customary education thrives through the intergenerational transmission of principles via role modeling, adherence to customs, and daily activities. Prominent moral principles include honesty, cooperation, obedience to customary rules, and respect for the natural environment. Meanwhile, spiritual values are reflected in the adherence to pikukuh karuhun (ancestral teachings), the prohibition of modern technology use in Inner Baduy, and maintaining a restricted lifestyle as a form of self-control. Field observations show that although some Outer Baduy residents have begun to integrate with the outside world and utilize technology, traditional moral and spiritual principles remain their primary guideline. In the current 4.0 era, Baduy customary education proves highly relevant, serving as a robust moral and spiritual bulwark against the rapid tides of modernization and globalization.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Siti Mayasari, Novi Rofihatun Nissa, Fitriyatuzzahriyah and Kamia Ade Oliviahttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12469Development of Genially Game-Based Interactive Learning Media on The Islamic Cultural History at MTs Al-Jauharotunnaqiyyah Cibeber2025-12-21T11:01:04+07:00Kiki Maulana[email protected]Saefudin Zuhri[email protected]Ina Salmah Febriani[email protected]
This research is motivated by the low engagement of student in the Islamic Cultural History learning process, which has impacted the low achievement of student learning outcomes. Employing a qualitative descriptive-comparative method, the research described and contrasted the tarkīb outputs from both sources, aiming to (1) detail the tarkīb analysis according to traditional nahwu, (2) describe the analysis of the same text using ChatGPT, and (3) determine the comparative advantages and limitations of each approach. The findings reveal that the Traditional Nahwu Approach provides highly detailed, contextually rich, and terminologically accurate descriptions of all grammatical elements (fi‘l, fā‘il, maf‘ūl bih, jār–majrūr, iḍāfah), including precise identification of positional rules (e.g., fā‘il mu’akhkhar). In contrast, ChatGPT successfully recognized basic syntactic patterns and assigned general functions, but demonstrated limitations in achieving the required classical precision, often failing to identify complex structures (such as the explicit and implied fā‘il or detailed iḍāfah forms) and positional variations. In conclusion, while traditional nahwu excels in depth and interpretive accuracy, ChatGPT offers a quick, accessible, and practical tool for preliminary syntactic mapping. The integration of these two approaches—termed AI-Assisted Nahwu Analysis (AINA)—demonstrates significant potential to enrich the study of Arabic syntax by bridging classical scholarship with modern AI technology.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Alysa Salsabila Ramadhan, Een Mu'arofah and Anisa Rihadatul A'isyhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12471SWOT Analysis of Arabic Language Learning at The Naatiq Course Institute in East Java Pare2025-12-21T11:20:57+07:00Dhiyaul Millah[email protected]Ubaidillah Ubaidillah[email protected]Hamim Huda[email protected]Umiyati Umiyati[email protected]
This study aims to analyze the internal and external factors affecting Naatiq Arabic Course Institute, Pare, Kediri using SWOT analysis method. The analysis will identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in order to create an effective development strategy. The data analysis focused on documentary content, specifically applying frameworks from pragmatics (e.g., Yule's speech acts and Relevance Theory) to identify linguistic features such as politeness strategies, mitigation techniques, metaphors, and narrative construction. The findings reveal that the advertisement strategically deploys communicative acts like motivational directives and emotional affirmations through elements of family togetherness and religious alignment. Pragmatic strategies, including the use of softening phrases and culturally resonant motivational expressions, effectively create emotional closeness, thereby reinforcing persuasive communication. The study concludes that the successful adaptation of linguistic and pragmatic strategies to the deeply embedded social and religious context of Ramadan significantly enhances advertising effectiveness and resonance. This research contributes a culturally sensitive model for marketing communication, highlighting the critical role of pragmatic competence in achieving emotional engagement within Indonesia’s socio-cultural landscape.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Ulfa Rahayu, Ilmaharani and Tatu Siti Rohbiahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12532The Dynamics of Conflict and Harmony: Social Interactions among Mosques, Madrasah, and Pesantren2026-01-02T09:27:07+07:00Anis Fauzi[email protected]
This article seeks to provide a describe theoretically the forms of social interaction among mosque communities, madrasah communities, and pesantren communities that sometimes cause social conflicts between them. The author uses the documentation study method to discuss the forms of social interaction and also the types of social conflicts that occur between the mosque community, the madrasah community and also the pesantren community. The data collection technique uses a literature review study of research articles that discuss social interaction and also social conflicts among them. The results of the study showed that the mosque community was able to hold activities to commemorate the Islamic Holiday with a shape and pattern that was not the same as in previous years. The madrasah community is able to carry out learning process activities based on the applicable curriculum and supported by certain learning techniques. The pesantren community is able to implement foreign language learning and also certain learning technologies that support pesantren activities. It turns out that the mosque community, the madrasah community and the pesantren community have social interaction with each other individually and in groups. However, the continued impact of the social interaction process gives rise to certain social conflicts between them, such as differences in the language of instruction, differences in learning places, and differences in life orientation between their communities.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Anis Fauzihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12533Internship Values: Islamic Higher Educations (IHEs) Students' Motives2026-01-02T09:32:52+07:00As’ari As’ari[email protected]Dwi Puspitasari[email protected]Maula Habibatul Wardah[email protected]
This study investigates the motivational factors underlying students’ participation in internship programs within Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEs) in Indonesia. As internships become increasingly central to graduate employability, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has implemented the Prima Magang initiative to enhance student readiness for the workforce through practical experience, digital literacy, and professional mentorship. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 249 IHEs students across eight regencies in Banten Province. The study examined four core variables influencing internship engagement: economic values, work readiness, Islamic values (morality and spirituality), and networking and connection motives. Data were analysed using path analysis with LISREL 8.8 to explore the relationships among these variables. Findings reveal that Islamic values exert the most significant and positive influence on students’ networking and connection development, serving as a key mediating factor between economic and professional motives. Economic values showed a negative yet significant correlation, while work readiness demonstrated an insignificant effect on networking outcomes. These results highlight the centrality of spiritual and moral dimensions in shaping students’ professional identity and social engagement during internships. The study underscores the importance of aligning academic curricula with labor market needs while integrating Islamic ethical principles to foster holistic employability. Ultimately, internship programs in IHEs not only enhance students’ economic and professional competencies but also cultivate ethical awareness and social responsibility within the broader context of Islamic education.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 As’ari, Dwi Puspitasari and Maula Habibatul Wardahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12534Education Zoning and Learning System Transformation in The Society 5.0 Era: Strategies for Achieving Equitable and Fair Educational Access2026-01-02T09:40:54+07:00Farhan Hidayat[email protected]Hasbullah Hasbullah[email protected]Jihan Abdullah[email protected]
Education serves as a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and societal advancement. In Indonesia, the education zoning policy—introduced to reduce inequality and eliminate the “favorite school” stigma—was expected to promote equal access. However, implementation challenges persist, particularly regarding disparities in infrastructure and school quality. This article examines the dynamics of Indonesia’s education zoning policy within the broader context of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and the rapid sociotechnical shifts of the Society 5.0 era. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature analysis, this study identifies three essential themes: the zoning system as a contested effort toward equality, the challenges and opportunities emerging in the Society 5.0 context, and the strategic role of youth as agents of change in transforming educational equity. Findings show that education zoning has the potential to improve access, but gaps in resource distribution, technology integration, and school quality require deeper reform. Moreover, youth involvement, powered by digital literacy and innovation, emerges as a crucial force in ensuring inclusive and adaptive educational transformation. Overall, the integration of policy reform, technological advancement, and youth participation is vital to achieving equitable and human-centered education in the Society 5.0 era.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Farhan Hidayat, Hasbullah and Jihan Abdullahhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12536Psychological First Aid as a Framework for Mental Health Promotion in Schools: a Literature Review2026-01-02T09:53:35+07:00Popy Mayasari Afendy[email protected]Syamsu Yusuf[email protected]Ipah Saripah[email protected]Ilfiandra Ilfiandra[email protected]
The increasing prevalence of mental health issues among adolescents highlights the urgent need for effective promotive and preventive interventions in schools. Psychological First Aid (PFA) offers a practical and evidence-informed framework for supporting students experiencing psychological distress while simultaneously promoting resilience and well-being. This literature review synthesizes findings from recent studies (2015–2025) that examine the integration of PFA into school-based mental health promotion initiatives. The analysis identifies four key themes: (1) the core components of PFA, safety, calmness, connectedness, self-efficacy, and hope as foundational principles for mental health support; (2) the role of teacher and peer training programs in strengthening knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy for early psychological intervention; (3) the integration of PFA with broader frameworks such as Mental Health Literacy (MHL) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL); and (4) contextual challenges, including resource limitations and the need for rigorous program evaluation. Overall, the review demonstrates that PFA can effectively enhance the mental health capacity of school communities by equipping educators and peers with the competencies to provide immediate, compassionate support. Future studies are encouraged to develop culturally adapted, technology-assisted PFA training models to strengthen sustainable mental health promotion in educational contexts.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Popy Mayasari Afendy, Syamsu Yusuf, Ipah Saripah and Ilfiandrahttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12537Al-Attas’s Concept of Ta’dib and Lifelong Learning: An Islamic Perspective on Supporting Sustainable Human Development2026-01-02T10:01:38+07:00Muhammad Ilham Thayyibi[email protected]
This study employs a library research approach, utilizing primary literature and documents regarding Al-Attas’s concept of ta’dib and lifelong learning from an Islamic perspective, supported by relevant secondary sources. The findings indicate that Al-Attas’s ta’dib emphasizes the cultivation of adab (right action and refined character) to produce virtuous and civilized human beings. Furthermore, lifelong learning in Islam is framed as a form of worship (ibadah) and a mandatory obligation for all believers from the cradle to the grave, characterized by continuity, consistency, and the absence of age or time constraints. The integration of ta’dib and lifelong learning serves as a catalyst for sustainable human development. By fostering individuals who are intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually competent, this integrated framework nurtures harmonious relationships with God, fellow human beings, other creatures, and the environment. Ultimately, lifelong learning cultivates adaptive, creative, and responsible individuals who ensure the continuous advancement of knowledge and the preservation of human civilization.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Ilham Thayyibihttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12538Goal Setting, Grit, and Motivation: Do They Really Have an Influence on Students' Self-Regulation?2026-01-02T10:05:18+07:00Nadiya Kurniati[email protected]Juntika Nurihsan[email protected]
This study explores the influence of goal setting, persistence, and motivation on student self-regulation through a literature review. Self-regulation is a fundamental skill necessary for academic success, yet many students struggle to develop this skill. Through a literature analysis of various empirical studies published between 2015 and 2025, this study seeks to answer the fundamental question of whether and how goal setting, persistence, and motivation influence self-regulation. The analysis reveals that all three components significantly influence student self-regulation. Specific and challenging goal setting provides direction and a standard for evaluation for learning. Perseverance, or grit, acts as a mediator, enabling students to maintain effort in the face of adversity. Intrinsic motivation, supported by the fulfillment of basic psychological needs, provides the energy and drive to engage in learning. Importantly, these three components do not operate in isolation but interact within a dynamic system that creates positive or negative cycles in self-regulation. These findings offer important implications for developing instructional strategies that support student learning independence, particularly regarding how teachers can facilitate goal setting, foster persistence, and foster intrinsic motivation in an integrated manner to optimize student self-regulation.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nadiya Kurniati and Juntika Nurihsanhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12558Mapping the Predictive Factors and Longitudinal Outcomes of Emotional Well-being in Higher Education Students: A Systematic Literature Review2026-01-06T06:11:28+07:00Muqafii Muqafii[email protected]Juntika Nurihsan[email protected]
Emotional well-being among higher education students has increasingly become a central focus in the global literature, particularly in light of escalating psychosocial challenges, academic stress, and adaptation pressures in the post-pandemic era. This study aims to systematically map the principal predictive factors and longitudinal outcomes of emotional well-being among higher education students through a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the PRISMA protocol. A total of 75 selected articles from the Scopus database, published between 2021 and 2025, were analyzed using thematic approaches, concept matrix mapping, and network analysis. The findings indicate that emotional intelligence, resilience, and social support are the most consistently identified determinants of emotional well-being across countries and disciplines. The longitudinal relationships between these factors and emotional well-being are dynamic, forming complex causal, mediating, and moderating patterns throughout the course of study. Longitudinal outcomes of emotional well-being include improved academic performance, enhanced mental resilience, higher quality of social relationships, and better preparedness for transition into the workforce. However, research gaps remain in the predominance of cross-sectional designs, limited longitudinal studies, insufficient exploration of mediating and moderating mechanisms, and underrepresentation of samples from developing countries and vulnerable groups. Recommendations are directed towards advancing longitudinal and mixed-methods research, expanding sample representativeness, and conducting ongoing evaluations of evidence-based interventions to support policies aimed at enhancing the emotional well-being of students globally.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muqafii and Juntika Nurihsanhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12559"One Session for Every Student, No Student Left Behind for SDG 4": Rapid Counseling with Single-Session Music Therapy as a Model for Inclusive and Quality Education2026-01-06T06:19:25+07:00Dominikus David Biondi Situmorang[email protected]Mamat Supriatna[email protected]
Securing inclusive and equitable quality education for all is a global challenge, especially in the context of mental health support provision to students in educational institutions (SDG 4). Mental health needs, emotional turmoil, and lack of access to counseling services commonly present as hidden obstacles to learning engagement and academic achievement. This concept paper suggests Rapid Counseling with Single-Session Music Therapy (RC–SSMT) as a novel and pragmatic approach for bolstering SDG 4 through the delivery of brief, accessible and engaging mental health support within schools. Using narrative and focused literature, including extant empirical and clinical studies on rapid counseling and single-session music therapy as examples, this paper posits that one-session, solution-focused, music-based sessions can meaningfully decrease psychological distresses in learners cultivating emotional regulation while promoting engagement without confines of long-term therapeutic models. The conversation places RC–SSMT in the context of inclusive education discussion, emphasizing its potential for any number of student populations—such as those that are socio-emotionally at-risk, have limited access to services or cultural boundaries to help-seeking. By recasting counseling as an approachable, inventive, and student-centered intervention, RC–SSMT provides a scalable response to quality education, learner well-being and institutional accountability under SDG 4.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Dominikus David Biondi Situmorang and Mamat Supriatnahttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12587Rasch-Based Evaluation of Rating Scale Functioning in a PERMA Flourishing Instrument for University Students2026-01-15T11:09:19+07:00Nadia Aulia Nadhirah[email protected]Faraz Maulana Gunawan[email protected]Nur’aini Hasna Hamidah[email protected]Sudaryat Nurdin Akhmad[email protected]Syamsu Yusuf[email protected]M. This study aims to develop and test the validity and reliability of a rating scale based on the PERMA model (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment) in measuring flourishing or positive functioning among students. The research employs a quantitative survey method involving 305 students from various study programs at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Data were collected using the PERMA model flourishing instrument. Data analysis was conducted using the Rasch Model, focusing on Rating Scale Measurement. The results indicate that the original 0-10 flourishing instrument scale was simplified to a 0-5 scale, with the rating scale functioning effectively. These findings support the use of the PERMA model flourishing instrument as a valid and reliable measurement tool in the context of higher education. In today's digital era, social media such as TikTok has become part of everyday life, including for early childhood. This study aims to describe whether or not there is an Effect of TikTok Social Media Usage Duration on the social emotional development of children aged 5-6 years in Nembol Village, Pandeglang Regency. The method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The study population was all parents who have children aged 5-6 years, with a sample size of 30 respondents selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire that measured the duration of TikTok Usage Influence and indicators of children's social emotional development. The results showed that the longer the duration of children using TikTok, the greater the potential for negative behavior such as lack of social interaction, difficulty controlling emotions, and speech delays. On the other hand, the Influence of TikTok Use that is limited and accompanied by parents can show better interaction and emotional regulation skills. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of parents in limiting and directing the Influence of Children's Social Media Use from an early age in order to support healthy social emotional development.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Eva Yulianingsih, Wulan Fauzia, and Abda Billah Faza Muhammadkan Bastianhttps://ftk.uinbanten.ac.id/journals/index.php/aiciel/article/view/12835The Influence of Microsite-Based Learning Media on Student Learning Independence in Islamic Education Subjects2026-05-06T22:17:00+07:00Ahmad Saepudin[email protected]Helnanelis Helnanelis[email protected]Asep Syahrul Mubarok[email protected]
This study aims to examine the effect of using microsite-based learning media on student learning independence in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SMAN Cahaya Madani Banten Boarding School.
