Abstract

Mu’tazila called themselves as the People of thought and reason, because they placed reason as one of an important appliance or basis to comprehend the religion’s doctrine. They regarded reason as more fundamental than revelation. Revelation according to them only confirms what is accepted by reason and, if there were a conflict between the two (revelation and reason), reason is to be [referred and revelation must be interpreted in order to be in conformity with the dictate of reason. This article tries to explain the above problems
