Konsep KPK dan FPB bagi siswa kelas VI SD merupakan materi yang pernah dipelajari pada kelas V. Hanya saja KPK dan FPB di kelas VI dipelajari dengan teknik yang berbeda. Akan tetapi, walaupun sudah dipelajari ternyata siswa kelas VI SDN Cilayang I masih belum memahami mengenai keterkaitan antara KPK dan FPB dengan konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Hal inilah yang melatarbelakangi penelitian tindakan kelas pada pembelajaran matematika konsep KPK dan FPB dengan menggunakan pendekatan RME. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan ke arah yang lebih baik dilihat dari aspek proses pembelajaran dan juga dari aspek hasil belajar siswa. Pada saat pembelajaran siswa berperan sebagai pebelajar aktif karena guru memfasilitasi siswa dengan lembar kegiatan siswa yang mengarahkan siswa memahami konsep KPK dan FPB berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada daam kehidupan sehari-hari. Pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep KPK dan FPB setelah siswa mempelajarinya dengan pendekatan RME pun terlihat ada peningkatan. Pada siklus I persentase ketuntasan mencapai 73,68% dan siklus II menjadi 100%
