Hakikat Tes Bahasa Arab di Jurusan PGMI

Istilah “tes” dalam bahasa Arab disebut ikhtibar (اختبار). Secara umum, tes adalah alat atau prosedur yang digunakan untuk mengetahui atau mengukur sesuatu dalam suasana, dengan cara dan aturan-aturan yang sudah ditentukan[i]. Dalam kaitannya dengan bidang kebahasaan, tes bahasa dipahami sebagai sejumlah pertanyaan atau tugas yang harus dijawab/direspon mahasiswa dengan tujuan mengukur tingkat mereka dalam hal penguasaan keterampilan bahasa tertentu dan menjelaskan kemajuan prestasi serta membandingkannya dengan prestasi mahasiswa lainnya. Jika pelaksanaan tes bahasa tersebut dilakukan pada saat proses pembelajaran sedang berlangsung disebut kuis[ii]. Melalui penyelenggaraan tes, diharapkan diperoleh informasi tentang seberapa banyak dan seberapa mendalam kemampuan berbahasa Arab yang dimiliki oleh seorang mahasiswa. Dalam tulisan ini akan membahas ragam tes yang mungkin diberikan oleh dosen pada mata kuliah bahasa Arab di Jurusan PGMI
