Hubungan Minat Baca dan Pemahaman Membaca Siswa Sekolah Dasar: Studi Empiris di SD Negeri 231 Palembang

This study aims to determine the one-way relationship between reading interest and students' reading comprehension. The subjects of the study consisted of 79 students selected from three classes (IV.A, IV.B, and IV.C). This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, questionnaires and tests. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability before being used. The data analysis techniques used were normality tests, using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro Wilk tests, and the Pearson product moment correlation test (one-tailed) with the help of SPSS version 26. The results of the analysis showed that the rcount value (0.035) was below the rtable (0.22), so it can be concluded that there is no positive relationship between reading interest and students' reading comprehension. This finding shows that the direction of the relationship remains positive although very weak, indicating that other factors such as basic reading skills, learning methods, and family environmental backgrounds that do not support a culture of literacy.
