Life skills penting dimiliki seseorang mahasiswa karena membuat mahasiswa menjadi mampi mengubah pengetahuan, sikap dan nilai menjadi kemampuan actual. Namun, masih ditemukan mahasiswa calon guru di FTK UIN STS Jambi mengalami masalah terkait life skills yang seharusnya dimiliki mahasiswa. Beragamnya penelitian terdahulu belum ada yang merinci life skills yang dimiliki oleh siswa calon guru. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi terkait life skilla yang dimiliki mahasiswa calon guru. Tujuannya untuk mengekplorasi life skills apa saja dan bagaimana keadaan life skills yang dimiliki mahsiswa calon guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dimensi life skills yang dimiliki mahasisa calon guru yaitu kecakapan personal kesadaran diri, kecakapan personal berpikir rasional, kecakapan sosial, kecakapan akademik serta kecakapan vokasional. Adapun keadaaan life skills yang dimiliki mahasiswa calon guru berbeda-beda dari masing-masing dimensi life skills. Keadaan life skillsnya ada yang sudah sangat baik, baik, cukup baik dan kurang baik. Dari Penelitian in iterlihat bagaimana potensi perkembangan life skills mahasiswa calon guru sehingga dapat memunculkan rencana pengembangan life skills untuk siswa calon guru.
