Strengthening Numeracy Skills through Traditional Games in Phase A of the Kurikulum Merdeka

Abstrak

Kurikulum Merdeka is an educational innovation that introduces a more contextual and everyday-life-oriented approach. One of the aspects receiving attention within this curriculum is the enhancement of numeracy skills in early childhood, particularly in Phase A. It is a fact that many young children encounter difficulties in grasping fundamental mathematical concepts. Emphasizing formal teaching often proves to be less effective during this developmental phase, thus necessitating the exploration of more suitable approaches. Traditional games hold the potential to serve as effective tools for strengthening numeracy skills in children during Phase A. Therefore, this research aims to investigate how traditional games can be employed to enhance the numeracy skills of children in Phase A of the Kurikulum Merdeka. This research is based on a literature review involving the search and analysis of relevant literature regarding the use of traditional games in the context of early childhood numeracy education. This literature review provides a strong theoretical foundation for further research on the utilization of traditional games to bolster numeracy skills in Phase A of the Kurikulum Merdeka. The findings indicate that traditional games can be effective instruments in achieving the desired educational goals outlined in the Kurikulum Merdeka.
