Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Ibtida’i: Jurnal Kependidikan Dasar is a peer-reviewed journal, published twice a year by the Department of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The journal is available in both online open-access format and in print.
This statement outlines the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication of articles in this journal, including the authors, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, reviewers, and the publisher. This statement refers to the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
🔷 Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of articles in Ibtida’i: Jurnal Kependidikan Dasar is a vital process for building a respected knowledge network. The quality of the authors' work and the institutions they represent is directly reflected in published articles. Peer-reviewed publications uphold the scientific method, so it is essential for all parties (authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers) to uphold ethical standards.
As the publisher, the Department of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, takes its role seriously in overseeing all publication stages, and affirms that no advertising or commercial interests will affect editorial decisions.
Once reading this Publication Ethics Statement, please download Letter of Copyright Agreement. Please sign and submit the Ethical Statement as a part of your initial article submission. The Copyright Agreement must be submitted before the article can be published.
🔷 Publication Decisions
The editors of Ibtida’i are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published. Decisions are based on the manuscript’s relevance and value to readers and researchers. Editors may refer to the journal's policies and comply with legal standards, including libel, copyright, and plagiarism. Editorial decisions may involve input from peer reviewers or other editorial members.
🔷 Plagiarism Screening
It is the author’s duty to submit manuscripts free from plagiarism and academic misconduct. However, every submission is double-checked by the editors using offline and online tools. Offline screening is performed by the editorial board, followed by similarity checking using available online databases.
🔷 Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, religious belief, ethnicity, citizenship, or political ideology.

Editorial team members must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than those involved in the review and publication process.
🔷 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials in submitted manuscripts must not be used in an editor’s own research without the author's written consent.

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist editors in making decisions and help authors improve the manuscript through constructive feedback.
Promptness
If a reviewer feels unqualified or unable to review the manuscript promptly, they must notify the editor immediately.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents and may not be shared without editor approval.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively with clear, evidence-based feedback. Personal attacks are not acceptable.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers must highlight any relevant literature not cited by the authors. They must also report any substantial similarity with existing publications.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Information obtained during the review must remain confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers must avoid reviewing manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
Review Process
Every manuscript submitted to Ibtida’i: Jurnal Kependidikan Dasar undergoes a double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers. Editorial decisions (accept, revise, reject) are based on reviewer recommendations. When necessary, a third reviewer may be involved.
✍️ Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must provide accurate accounts of their research and sufficient detail for replication. Falsification or dishonest reporting is unethical and unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts must be original. Any use of others' work must be properly cited.
Multiple or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same work to more than one journal. Simultaneous submissions are considered unethical.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper citation of all referenced works is required.
Authorship of the Paper
Only those who made substantial contributions should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest, financial or otherwise, and acknowledge sources of funding.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error in their published work, they must inform the editor promptly to correct or retract the article.
